Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs signs new contract

Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs signs a new deal with the Scottish Championship club until summer 2017.

Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs has signed a new contract with the club until the end of the 2016-17 season.

The 43-year-old's coaching staff have also penned fresh terms with the Scottish Championship side.

Stubbs joined Hibs last summer before guiding the team to the playoff semi-finals and the last four of the Scottish Cup.

"I am very happy to continue with the work in progress," he told the club's official website. "I think supporters would agree that they have seen a lot of positive changes over the past year, and I know there is a lot more to come.

"I think most supporters would agree that whatever disappointments they have suffered in recent seasons are behind us, we are on the right track now. We're trying to play a winning and exciting brand of football that they want to see and be part of."

Stubbs's professional playing career included spells with Celtic, Everton and Sunderland before his retirement in 2008.
