Hull City have confirmed that striker Nikica Jelavic will miss the next six weeks of action due to a knee injury.
The 29-year-old underwent surgery this week after the Premier League club realised that they could not manage the problem for the remainder of the season.
The Tigers have revealed that the decision to book the operation was made following their goalless draw with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium last weekend.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Jelavic underwent arthroscopic surgery under Andy Williams at The Cromwell Hospital London. The striker will now undergo a period of rehabilitation in his bid to regain fitness."
Hull are currently 15th in the table, three points above the relegation zone.
