Steve Bruce: 'The better team won'

Hull City manager Steve Bruce says that his side deserved to lose their Premier League match against Southampton.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has admitted that his side deserved to lose their Premier League match against Southampton.

The Tigers fell to a 1-0 defeat thanks to Jose Fonte's second-half goal at the KC Stadium.

"Southampton are an excellent side. We had to be at our best and we weren't. We went too long and direct to our strikers too often," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"We have to be honest - the better team won. We were never away from it [the relegation zone]. We've got 12 games to go. We're in a decent situation. It's all to play for."

Hull are currently 13th in the Premier League table and sit three points above the relegation zone.
