Sone Aluko's goal four minutes from time has seen Hull City move second in the Championship after beating Fulham 2-1.
The hosts almost took the lead midway through the first half when Curtis Davies was teed up by Michael Dawson before the ex-Aston Villa defender saw his shot strike the top of the crossbar.
Hull did eventually take the lead on 34 minutes as Andrew Robertson's curling cross found Ahmed Elmohamady at the far post and the Egyptian headed past Marcus Bettinelli.
Matt Smith nearly restored parity for the visitors, but was forced off injured moments before the break as he collided with Bettinelli. The England Under-21 keeper was also stretchered off after the incident.
Kit Symons's side did manage to get back on level terms when Tom Crainey created space for a shot and his looping effort found the top corner of the net, with Allan McGregor rooted to the spot.
However, Aluko stepped up in the dying minutes after Nikica Jelavic played the ball into the path of his fellow forward and the 26-year-old slotted past an onrushing Andy Lonergan.
