Hull City have made an improved offer to lure Shaun Maloney away from Chicago Fire, according to reports.
The Scotland international is thought to have been the subject of a failed bid by the Tigers earlier this month.
Steve Bruce revealed this week that he was still hopeful of recruiting the former Wigan Athletic midfielder, but admitted that things had gone quiet of late.
A report carried in The Scotsman suggests that Hull have now stepped up their pursuit for Maloney, however, just seven months after he joined Chicago in a £1m deal.
City are also still in the hunt for striker Andre Gray, having sealed the signing of his Brentford teammate Moses Odubajo last week.
