Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has revealed that the Italian giants wanted to sign midfielder Marco Verratti in the summer.
The 20-year-old joined French giants Paris Saint-Germain from Pescara in July and has been in impressive form for the Parisian outfit so far this season.
"When we had the chance to chat to the boy last July, we had invested a lot of money in a player who will be the future of Inter, [Fredy] Guarin," Ausilio told Inter Channel.
"I think with Verratti it was hoped, and not only by us, [that we could] gain a bit of time, but when clubs like PSG come in you can't really do much."
Verratti has featured in 11 Ligue 1 matches for PSG and has played in all four of their Champions League games.
