Evans: 'Ipswich search will take time'
Ipswich Town owner Marcus Evans insists that he is prepared to wait until next season to find a replacement for Mick McCarthy in the club's dugout.

Ipswich Town owner Marcus Evans has insisted that he is prepared to wait until next season to find a replacement for Mick McCarthy in the club's dugout.

McCarthy left the Portman Road side with immediate effect following their 1-0 defeat to Barnsley on Tuesday evening, with caretaker manager Bryan Klug to take interim charge.

Evans told the Ipswich Star that he intends to be patient with his decision rather than rushing to an appointment.

"Appointing a manager is one of the most important - if not the most important - decision an owner of a football club will make," the owner said. "I have started the process but I will take all the time I need to find the right person.

"A lot can happen around the end of the season with managers so I want to be in the best position I can be before making an appointment.

"I can't rule it out completely but I don't envisage confirming our next manager until the season is finished."

Klug's first game in charge will be Ipswich's trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
