Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell says that Lee Martin has matured and is now performing as expected for the Tractor Boys.

Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell has said that winger Lee Martin has matured in recent months and is performing as expected for the Suffolk side.

Martin, a graduate of the Manchester United academy, was branded "immature" by the Liverpudlian manager after getting sent off in the Tractor Boys thumping 7-1 loss at Peterborough early in the season.

However, he has started all but one of the Blues' last 14 games and scored twice in the weekend win over Cardiff.

"He's loving the game and he's loving playing," Jewell told BBC Radio Suffolk. "I think he's matured as a person and a player."

"He's become more of a mature footballing person and he'll see the benefit of that on his game," Jewell added.

Ipswich are currently on a run of four straight victories and will be looking to make it five when they travel to another in-form team, Brighton, on Saturday.
