Mick McCarthy: 'Ipswich Town should have had a penalty'

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy insists that his side should have had a penalty during their 1-0 defeat to Derby County in the Championship.

Mick McCarthy has claimed that Ipswich Town should have been awarded a penalty in the second half of their defeat to Derby County this afternoon.

The ball appeared to strike Richard Keogh's arm in the penalty box early in the second half of the 1-0 defeat, but the referee waved for the two Championship promotion hopefuls to play on.

The Ipswich manager told the club's website: "We didn't get any luck today and I don't think we were aided and abetted by the officials. It was a penalty in the second-half. The ball has hit his arm. Even their bench were nodding it was a penalty.

"John Eustace took Didz out in the first-half as well when we were breaking. It should have been a red card. He had already had a yellow so he's got to go."

Chris Martin scored the only goal of the match for the Rams, shortly after the penalty appeal.
