Zenit St Petersburg defender Domenico Criscito has insisted that he is not seeking to prove a point to the Italian football's governing body (FIGC) after his recall to the Italy national team.
The 25-year-old left-back was removed from the Azzurri's Euro 2012 squad following allegations that he was involved in the Scommessopoli betting scandal in the summer.
Criscito has now been recalled by coach Cesare Prandelli for Italy's upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Armenia and Denmark.
"I do not consider this as a mission for revenge, but rather a recognition of my recent performances," he said.
"I'm glad [to have returned to the national side] and now I never want to vacate this jersey."
Criscito joined Zenit from Genoa in 2011.
