Massimiliano Allegri named Italy Coach of the Year for second time

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri wins the Italy Coach of the Year award for the second time having steered the Old Lady to a league and cup double last season.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has won the Italian Coach of the Year award for the second time.

The 48-year-old steered the Old Lady to within one match of an unprecedented treble in his first season in charge of the club, winning Serie A and the Coppa Italia before falling short in the final of the Champions League.

Allegri, who has been linked with the Chelsea job since Jose Mourinho's departure, first won the award while manager of Cagliari in 2009.

"I must thank my players, because if I deserve this award then it's down to them," he told legaserie.it.

"I work hard every year to improve myself and my squad and to realise the potential I know we have."

Lazio boss Stefano Pioli came second in the voting, while Maurizio Sarri, who is now in charge of Napoli, finished third for his exploits with Empoli last season.
