Former Juventus striker Gianluca Vialli claims that the Bianconeri need to buy this summer if they are to compete in the Champions League.

Former Juventus striker Gianluca Vialli believes Champions League success will only come for Antonio Conte's side if they secure the right signings.

Vialli was part of the Bianconeri squad that won the last Champions League for the club in 1996.

The Italian suggests that the Old Lady should now begin to focus on Europe after securing the past two Serie A titles, but insists that extra quality is needed.

"It is normal that after two consecutive championships that, perhaps even subconsciously, attention being shifted to something more important, albeit at the cost of giving up a little bit in the league," Vialli told Tuttosport.

"But it all depends on recruitment drive. It is true that they were stopped in the second round only because they met Bayern Munich, but it is equally true that the Champions League presents a higher level of difficulty.

"If the players who Antonio Conte has requested arrive, those who he wants to bet on, then you can really see Juve playing the lead role until the end of the season."

Juventus have been linked with summer moves for Stevan Jovetic, Carlos Tevez and Luis Suarez.
