Preview: Kasimpasa vs. Konyaspor - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Turkish Super Lig clash between Kasimpasa and Konyaspor, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two sides with varying ambitions will open the floor for Saturday's Turkish Super Lig action, as Kasimpasa host Konyaspor at the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium.

The hosts are one point off the final European spot, while the visitors are just two points above the relegation zone with seven matches left to play this season.

Match preview

Kasimpasa bounced back to winning ways, picking up a 2-0 victory over 10-man Kayserispor on their visit to Kadir Has Sehir Stadi last time out.

Nuno da Costa put the Apaches ahead in the first half before Kartal Yilmaz was sent off for the hosts in the same half after a second yellow card. The visitors made the advantage count in the second half as Haris Hajradinovic added a second four minutes before the hour mark.

Sami Urgulu's men are now on 46 points, and just one point behind fourth-placed Besiktas. They have a good chance of clinching European football but will have to show some consistency heading into the final seven matches, especially on the home front.

Kasimpasa are the fifth-worst side on home soil in this campaign, and are winless in their last three games at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium.

The Apaches are also winless in the last five times they have hosted this fixture, losing twice and drawing three times in those games.

Urgulu will have to find a solution to his side's defence if they want to get over the line as this has been their biggest issue all season. Despite having the third-best attack in the league (55 goals scored), with only the top two scoring more goals, Kasimpasa also have the third-worst defence (55 goals conceded), with only the bottom two teams conceding more.

Konyaspor have failed to win in three successive games, losing 3-1 to Trabzonspor last time out after consecutive draws with Fatih Karagumruk and Adana Demirspor.

The Anatolian Eagles remain in 16th place with seven games remaining this season, level on points with 15th-placed Hatayspor and just two points ahead of 17th-placed Gaziantep.

Fahrudin Omerovic, who joined Konya in January as their third manager of the season, brought some improvement, helping them climb out of the relegation zone. However, their recent form has seen them head back into the relegation mix and are in danger of seeing their 11-year stay in the Super Lig come to an end.

However, they could make it three away games in a row without defeat on Saturday, having drawn Karagumruk and defeated Pendikspor in their last games on the road.

Team News

Dries Saddiki is also expected to be missing for Kasimpasa due to a hamstring problem, but Erdem Cetinkaya could return to the pitch if he passes a late fitness test.

Da Costa, who has scored 12 league goals so far, is expected to lead the line once again, with Hajradinovic providing support.

Konyaspor have everyone back and available, leaving Omerovic with a full squad to choose from ahead of Saturday's clash.

Sokol Cikalleshi, who has scored 11 league goals this season, should lead the line again, with Alexandru Cicaldau providing support behind the striker.

Kasimpasa possible starting lineup:
Gianniotis; Gedik, Porozo, Ozcan, Aydin; Guel, Thomas; Fall, Hajradinovic, Ouanes; Da Costa

Konyaspor possible starting lineup:
Slowik; Yazgli, Damjanovic, Hadebe, Guilherme; N'Zonzi, Dikmen; Ndao, Cicaldau, Ulgun; Cikalleshi

SM words green background

We say: Kasimpasa 1-1 Konyaspor

Kasimpasa aim to return to winning ways at home after a three-game winless run. Despite their attacking prowess, a leaky defence might cause problems. Konyaspor are winless in three but unbeaten in two away games. We expect a close encounter and feel this might end in a draw and the visitors have a solid record here in recent times.
