Steven Gerrard 'disappointed' by LA Galaxy's failure to defend MLS title

Steven Gerrard admits his 'disappointment' in Los Angeles Galaxy's failed attempt to successfully defend their MLS title.

Steven Gerrard has admitted that he feels 'disappointed' after Los Angeles Galaxy failed to successfully defend their MLS title following defeat to Seattle Sounders in the playoffs.

The former Liverpool captain, who joined the American club in the summer, played a part in Galaxy's 3-2 defeat in the first round of the playoffs.

The 35-year-old has criticised the team's defensive errors, but has insisted that there was no lack of desire among the squad.

"I don't think I would bring our qualities or our character into question," Gerrard told reporters. "We always give everything we've got and sometimes it's not enough.

"I think if you analyse the whole season we were brilliant up until three or four weeks ago and all of the sudden we have been conceding sloppy goals and that certainly got carried into tonight.

"If you don't win trophies at the end of a season, it's always disappointing. You have to dose yourself down and get ready to go again. Before you know it the season will be starting again."

Gerrard has an 18-month deal with the MLS club.
