Massimo Cellino 'hoping for Leeds United bidding war'

Massimo Cellino will reportedly delay selling Leeds United to one of six potential buyers in order to recoup as much money as possible for the club.

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is attempting to orchestrate a bidding war for the club, according to a report.

The Italian claimed on Wednesday that as many as six potential buyers have shown an interest in purchasing the West Yorkshire outfit.

It is suggested by the Daily Mail that the 59-year-old, who is currently in the process of fighting a Football League ban, is happy to hold out for as long as required in order to secure the best possible deal.

Cellino refused to agree an exclusivity agreement with Leeds Fans United, opening the door for other parties to step forward and thus leaving staff at Elland Road reportedly fearing for their jobs.

By holding out for the biggest deal possible, much like he did when dispensing with Italian club Cagliari, it is suggested that the Whites' controversial chief could scare off other potential buyers from making a move.

Leeds find themselves down in 15th place in the Championship table.
