Red Bull 'not interested' in buying Leeds United from Massimo Cellino

Red Bull release a statement declaring that they have no interest in buying Leeds United.

Austrian drinks company Red Bull have declared that they have no plans to buy Championship club Leeds United.

It had been reported that the drinks giant might be interested in purchasing the Yorkshire football club from Italian businessman Massimo Cellino, but they have insisted that that is not the case.

"We can confirm that Red Bull has no plans to take over Leeds United, nor take a stake in the club," a Red Bull spokesperson told PA.

Cellino, who only bought the club earlier this year, told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he had no interest in selling.

"We talked with an agent who said he was working for Red Bull, but I'd never met him before and I don't know what Red Bull want to do. I'm not selling the club," he said.

Cellino has already hired and fired two managers this season, and new boss Neil Redfearn will aim to end the club's seven-game winless streak when he takes charge of his second match as full-time manager this evening against Charlton Athletic.
