Leeds United sign Matt Smith from Oldham Athletic on a two-year deal.

A statement on Leeds United's official website has confirmed the signing of Matt Smith from Oldham Athletic on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old, whose Oldham deal was due to expire at the end of this month, will officially join the Championship outfit on July 1.

Smith, who is predominantly a striker, played a key role in Oldham's FA Cup campaign last season, scoring goals against both Liverpool and Everton.

It is understood that Leeds have beaten a number of Championship clubs to his signature.
