Neil Warnock is keen to tie El Hadji Diouf and Ross McCormack down to contracts at Leeds United.

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has revealed that he is keen to sort out the futures of El Hadji Diouf and Ross McCormack before this weekend's opening Championship match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Senegal attacker Diouf, who featured during Saturday's 4-0 Carling Cup win over Shrewsbury Town, is currently training with the club on non-contract terms.

"He works hard too and he doesn't give the ball away. When we get him a little bit fitter he can do a job for us," Warnock told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "He's on non-contract terms and I asked him to do that to be involved on Saturday while I had a good look at him.

"He trained Thursday, Friday and he's in this week. I'll make a decision before the weekend because I'll want him involved against Wolves if that's the case.

"We'll have a chat and see what happens. He won't be retiring on the wage we give him."

Meanwhile, striker McCormack has 12 months remaining on his current deal at Elland Road.

Despite speculation surrounding the Scottish international's future, Warnock feels that the situation could be sorted out soon.

"I'd like that resolved before Wolves too," added Warnock. "I'd have liked it resolved last week if I'm honest because we're thin on the ground.

"But I was a lot happier talking to him on Saturday and he seems happier too. I'm not saying it will definitely happen but we're optimistic."

Warnock took charge of the Whites in February 2012.
