Sven-Goran Eriksson moves to "kill" David Beckham link

There is no chance that David Beckham will join Leicester City when his LA Galaxy contract expires, according to manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has claimed that it is very unlikely that David Beckham will join his club.

With his contract at LA Galaxy due to expire in November, former England captain Beckham has been linked with a move to the King Power Stadium in both a playing and coaching role.

Despite confessing that he would like to sign the 36-year-old, Eriksson believes that Beckham would have no intention of dropping down to the Championship.

"It's not going to happen. David knows we would take him but if he wants to come to us he will phone me," the Swede told BBC East Midlands Today.

"I don't know what he is going to do but I doubt he wants to come to the Championship and if I were in his clothes I doubt I should do that.

"I don't know if he wants to be a coach. It is something we have never spoken about. We can kill that one. There is no truth behind it."

It was reported this morning that Beckham would "love" a return to Manchester United in a non-playing role.
