Emile Heskey returns to Leicester City

Former Leicester City striker Emile Heskey confirms that he has returned to the club as an ambassador.

Former England striker Emile Heskey has revealed that he has returned to Leicester City in an ambassadorial role.

The 36-year-old came through the ranks at Leicester and went on to score 46 goals in 197 appearances for the Foxes between 1995 and 2000.

Heskey, who recently ended his playing career with Newcastle Jets in Australia, will become an ambassador for Leicester's Thailand International Academy, which is to be launched soon.

"Leicester City is where it all started for me, so it is with great pride that I return to the club in a role I am really excited about," he told the Leicester Mercury.

"Coming up through the club's academy and developing into a first team footballer were some of the most important years of my career but they were also some of the most enjoyable.

"My aim is to help these young players to have a similar experience while they are studying and playing in Leicester. I owe so much to Leicester City and to the education I received in the club's academy, so I'm delighted to be able to give something back at the other end of my career."

Heskey will offer guidance to 16 young players from Thailand, who will receive coaching from the Premier League club.
