Leicester City to wear black armbands

Leicester City will wear black armbands during their game with Chelsea following the death of Thai monarch King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Leicester City will wear black armbands during tomorrow's game with Chelsea following the death of Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The world's longest-reigning monarch died at the age of 88 in Bangkok on Thursday, prompting a national outpouring of grief.

The Foxes - owned by Thai billionaire Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha - paused for a minute's silence during a training session on Friday morning ahead of their trip to London.

"King Bhumibol was a very deeply revered and much-loved figure in the homeland of Leicester City's owners, the Srivaddhanaprabha family," Leicester said in a statement on its official website.

"As a further mark of respect, Leicester City players will wear black armbands this weekend – for Friday's PL2 outing and Saturday's Premier League fixture, both away at Chelsea.

"Leicester City Football Club extends its heartfelt condolences to the Thai people at this sad and difficult time."

King Bhumibol had been on the throne for 70 years and 127 days.
