Nigel Pearson expresses his delight and relief at returning to Leicester City following a 17-month spell with Hull City.

Nigel Pearson has expressed his delight at returning to manage Leicester City.

The 48-year-old, who left the club 17 months ago to join Hull City, finalised a move back to the King Power Stadium yesterday evening.

The two Championship clubs had been locked in discussions for the past 12 days over compensation for Pearson and his coaching staff, something that the manager had found hard to deal with.

"It was very long," Pearson told a press conference. "It felt longer than [12 days] if I'm honest.

"I'm just glad it has been resolved."

Leicester's Thai owners are believed to want promotion to the Premier League this season.

Despite the pressure placed upon his shoulders, Pearson is confident that he can succeed.

"I'm delighted to be back here," he added. "It is a club which I have an affinity for and I had a a very good time here before.

"Expectations are high and it's a big challenge but one I'm more than looking forward to. I believe we have a very good squad here and a good opportunity to do good things.

"I have the backing of the board and I know there keen to be successful, it's a big club with huge potential."

Pearson's second stint in charge will begin with a match against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
