Claude Puel excited by Leicester City opportunity

New manager Claude Puel says that he is excited by the opportunity that has been given to him at Leicester City.

New manager Claude Puel has revealed that he intends to keep the "identity" of Leicester City after being named as a replacement for Craig Shakespeare.

Last week, the Foxes announced that Shakespeare had been removed from his position at the King Power Stadium, with Michael Appleton winning two games in caretaker charge before the arrival of Puel.

The Frenchman takes his new side into a home fixture with Everton on Sunday afternoon but rather than looking to make wholesale changes in the East Midlands, the former Southampton man has indicated that he may not introduce a new approach.

The 56-year-old told reporters: "For me it's a great club and a fantastic opportunity. I have a good feeling to come here and to be a Fox. It is great to be back [in England] and a great opportunity, I had one season here and I very much appreciated that. The players, the staff and the media.

"There are great managerial adversaries in England. It is a really top-level league; it is almost like playing a Champions League fixture every week.

"This club has a young feel about them. They got promoted to the Premier League just a few seasons ago and they have made rapid progress to win the title. We want to keep the identity of Leicester City and to bring more consistency into proceedings."

Leicester currently sit in 14th place in the league standings.
