Leicester City manager Claude Puel says that he will take things "step-by-step" in his first few months at the King Power Stadium, as he targets a top-10 finish.

Claude Puel has targeted a top-half finish in his first season at Leicester City after taking over from Craig Shakespeare earlier this week.

The 56-year-old is first tasked with steadying the ship in the East Midlands following a slow start to the campaign that has left the Foxes just a point above the dropzone.

Puel, who finished eighth in his only season as Southampton manager before being sacked in the summer, hopes to galvanise his playing squad in order to climb the division over the coming weeks and months.

"This season, we will go step-by-step," he told reporters. "We will try to perform on the pitch and have good results and to find our way to the top half of the table.

"This is not a dream, this is a reality. After, we will see if we can do other things in January and February. It is important to work together and find a good relationship between ourselves. We will then try to find something strong for the future. We know we need good results."

First up for Puel is the visit of Everton, who are currently without a permanent manager following the recent sacking of Ronald Koeman.
