Harvey Elliott takes major step forward in recovery from ankle injury

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott undertakes outdoor training for the first time since suffering a horrific ankle injury against Leeds United in September.

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has been pictured running outside for the first time since his horrific ankle injury two months ago.

The former Fulham starlet suffered a dislocated ankle and damaged ligaments following a challenge from Leeds United's Pascal Struijk on September 12.

Elliott immediately underwent surgery and is fighting to play again before the season concludes, but Liverpool have been able to issue a positive update on the Englishman.

The Reds confirmed on Monday morning that Elliott was able to enjoy a jog on the outside training pitches, accompanied by pictures of the teenager in good spirits as he steps up his recovery.

Elliott will hope to return to full fitness before the 2021-22 campaign concludes, but the 18-year-old is still facing at least another few months out of action.

The midfielder had started three Premier League games on the bounce for Jurgen Klopp's side before suffering the injury in that 3-0 win at Elland Road.
