Liverpool reveal Roberto Firmino injury

Liverpool reveal that Roberto Firmino has sustained a "minor knock" after the Brazil international missed out Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Fulham in the Premier League.

Liverpool have confirmed that Roberto Firmino has sustained a "minor knock" which kept him out of the dismal Anfield defeat to Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

The champions have been dealing with an injury crisis for large portions of the campaign, but the bulk of their issues have been in defence rather than the final third with Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez all expected to remain sidelined until the 2021-22 season.

Firmino has managed to keep fit for the majority of the campaign, but the Brazilian attacker was nowhere to be seen on Sunday as Mario Lemina's strike condemned the Reds to a sixth home defeat on the bounce.

The former Hoffenheim man is suffering from a "minor knock", Liverpool confirmed, so he is not expected to be out for long and will hope to return for Wednesday's Champions League last-16 second leg against RB Leipzig, with Liverpool boasting a 2-0 lead from the first leg.

Like many of his teammates, Firmino has often cut a frustrated figure this term and has only registered one goal in his last 13 top-flight outings, chalking up a total of six goals and five assists in 27 Premier League appearances this season.
