Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers wants Daniel Sturridge back as soon as possible

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants Daniel Sturridge back as "soon as he can" after he suffered a calf problem last week.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has suggested that his team are missing their "fluidity" due to the absence of injured Daniel Sturridge.

The England international returned to training last week following a seven-week spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

However, the 25-year-old's comeback was hampered after he picked up a calf problem in training, which is expected to keep him out of action for two to three weeks.

"It hasn't been as fluid or as effective, but we are trying to master that," Rodgers told reporters. "When Daniel plays, it gives us that fluidity. We want him to get back as soon as he can."

Sturridge has missed Liverpool's last nine games.
