Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is expected to undergo further tests after the club claimed that the centre-back's injury is not as bad as first feared.

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger may not be forced to sit out of the rest of the season with an injury after scans have shown that the problem is not as bad as first feared.

The Denmark international was stretchered off in the Reds' 2-1 defeat to Manchester United yesterday with concerns that the 27-year-old had suffered medial ligament damage.

It is understood that the injury is not as serious as first thought but the centre-back will have to undergo further tests to learnt he extent of the injury, according to the Merseyside club.

Meanwhile, Fabio Borini, who picked up an ankle injury during the clash at Anfield is believed to have suffered severe bruising and has not been deemed as a long-term casualty.
