Leighton Baines challenges his Everton teammates to ensure that the club finishes above rivals Liverpool this season.

Everton full-back Leighton Baines has urged his teammates to exert all the efforts between now and the end of the season into finishing above Liverpool in the Premier League table.

The Toffees saw their chances of winning the FA Cup ended yesterday afternoon at the semi-final stage by their Merseyside rivals.

However, the England international has insisted that there is still plenty to play for in the team's remaining five league fixtures.

Asked by the club's official website if the incentive to outlast Kenny Dalglish's side is now larger than ever before this season, Baines replied: "That's what we've got to focus on. We need something to focus on now and that will be it.

"It will take a few days to let the dust settle after this one, but then we'll pick ourselves up and go again."

Everton are currently one place and one point above the Reds.
