Jamie Carragher is due to resume training with Liverpool next week after recovering from an ankle injury.

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is targeting a return from injury against Chelsea at the end of this month.

The 33-year-old, who picked up a calf injury in the Reds' 2-1 win against Stoke City in the Carling Cup last month, is expected to take part in a full training session next week.

"I'm coming along fine," Carragher told the club's official website. "I'm working with the physios this week and if things continue to go well the plan is to get back into full training at the start of next week.

"It was always going to be tight to be fit for the Swansea game last weekend and with a two-week break after that match there was no point doing anything silly. It's important to ensure I get it 100% right.

"Hopefully I'll be available for the Chelsea game but I'm not thinking about games at this stage."

The two sides will go head to head at Stamford Bridge on November 20.
