Liverpool legend and Under-18s coach Steven Gerrard is believed to be on the verge of taking the manager's job at Rangers.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is believed to be on the verge of taking the manager's job at Scottish Premiership side Rangers.

The 37-year-old, currently in charge of the Reds' Under-18 side, is believed to have met with Gers director of football Mark Allen to replace temporary boss Graeme Murty.

According to the Daily Record, talks between the two parties were "very positive" and the Rangers board are hopeful of ironing out the final details and unveiling Gerrard as manager within days.

The report also claims that former Scotland international Gary McAllister has agreed to be assistant boss, while Liverpool youth coach Tom Culshaw would complete the backroom team.

Gerrard retired from playing in 2016 after a career that yielded eight major trophies including the Champions League.
