Steven Gerrard reveals West Ham United gamesmanship

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard reveals the lengths that West Ham United went to try to "upset" the Reds before their game at Upton Park on Sunday.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed the lengths that West Ham United went to as they tried to disrupt the Reds before their clash on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers's men eventually won the game 2-1 to go back to the top of the Premier League, with Gerrard scoring twice from the penalty spot.

Speaking after the game, Gerrard spoke of a number of tricks deployed by the Hammers in an attempt to give themselves an advantage prior to the game.

The England skipper is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail: "We knew what to expect and we got a bit more than we expected - a hot dressing room, a dry pitch and the bus had to park a mile away.

"I think they tried everything to upset us. It was a good test of our character. We needed to prove that we're capable of fighting for this title and we did that terrifically well.

"They were throwing 70-yard balls into our penalty box from every different angle. They have got giants in there who are going up with their elbows and we stood really strong."

The Reds have won their last nine games in the Premier League.
