Emile Heskey: 'Roberto Firmino makes everything gel at Liverpool'

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey highlights Roberto Firmino as the player who makes "everything gel" for Jurgen Klopp's title-bound side.

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has highlighted Roberto Firmino as the one player who makes "everything gel" for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Firmino has often been overshadowed by Golden Boot-chasing Mohamed Salah, player of the season contender Sadio Mane or Ballon d'Or runner-up Virgil van Dijk in recent times when it comes to plaudits for Liverpool's star men.

The Brazilian's goal tally of 11 is some way behind both Mane and Salah, but Heskey believes that he brings much more to the team than just goalscoring.

"I just think everything gels properly when he's playing."He's not necessarily worried about 'this is my job and I need to do this'," Heskey told 90min.

"You see him chasing back and tackling, you see him playing left wing and chase the guy up and down the wing. Then you'll see him up front, getting the ball and holding it up and bringing someone in. It's just a different variety of stuff that he does, he's not just focused on 'I must score goals'.

"I'm a forward, so I look at the runs he's making, the space he's creating. He seems to get space where nobody gets space. He creates his space, his first touch is brilliant because he takes it away from players, so he can have time to look around and assess what he's got to do next. He's great at that."

Firmino has featured in all 29 of Liverpool's Premier League matches this season, helping the club to build a 25-point lead over nearest challengers Manchester City.
