Premier League's most valuable players

Sports Mole takes a look at the most valuable players in the Premier League.

There is no question that some of the world's best players currently operate in the Premier League.

Indeed, in Liverpool and Manchester City, England's top flight boasts two of the best club teams in world football, but there are also a number of world-class talents outside of the current top two.

Below, Sports Mole takes a look at the top 18 most valuable players in the Premier League, and it is not a surprise to see the list dominated by individuals from Liverpool and City.

Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United are also represented, though, in what is a list packed full of brilliant talent and high market values.

Raheem Sterling has enjoyed another impressive campaign for City, finding the back of the net on 20 occasions in 39 appearances in all competitions. The England international has not scored a Premier League goal in 2020, but he is certainly one of the division's best players in full flow, making his position not too much of a surprise.

Kevin De Bruyne is actually joint with Liverpool pair Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the selection - all three are similar ages, while they have all enjoyed impressive campaigns. De Bruyne, though, is arguably the best individual footballer in the division, and it is a touch surprising that his market value is not higher.

Tottenham's Harry Kane has also been handed a valuation of £108m; the England captain has not played since picking up a hamstring injury on New Year's Day, but there is no question that he would command in excess of £100m should he be placed on the transfer market. It is difficult to argue with the top five in the list, although Virgil van Dijk might feel that he deserves to be higher.

Van Dijk is joint-seventh in the list, behind Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold; the latter is arguably already the best right-back in world football, but the former has been key to Liverpool's success since arriving from Southampton, and there is an argument that he should be in the top five.

Leroy Sane, N'Golo Kante and Bernardo Silva are actually joint with Van Dijk in terms of valuation (£72m), which is interesting. Sane has not appeared since the Community Shield due to a knee injury, and the attacker's contract will expire at the end of June 2021. Kante and Silva have found it difficult to show their best form this term, meanwhile, but the duo are still among the best players in the league.

Paul Pogba's valuation has also been set at £72m; the Frenchman's contract at Old Trafford will expire next summer, although the Red Devils do have the option of activating a further 12 months. The World Cup winner - linked with Real Madrid and Juventus - has not played since December due to an ankle injury, but there is little arguing that he is still United's most talented player.

Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino - another two key players for Liverpool - are both valued at £64.8m, while Marcus Rashford, Dele Alli, Heung-min Son, Rodri and Andrew Robertson make up the top 18 with valuations of £57.6m respectively.

Rashford had been enjoying his best-ever scoring season for United - hitting 19 in all competitions - before picking up a back problem, but Alli has found it difficult to show his best form this season. Son, Rodri and Robertson have all contributed to their sides this term, although it is perhaps a surprise that Rashford is not above them considering that the Englishman is just 22 and has made huge strides forward this season.
