Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: 'Mamadou Sakho situation not easy'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that Mamadou Sakho's failed drugs test is not "the most easy situation".

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that it is "not the most easy situation" after it emerged today that defender Mamadou Sakho had failed a drug test.

Sakho sat out the Reds' 2-2 draw with Newcastle United this afternoon after both the club and UEFA confirmed that Sakho had tested positive for a banned substance.

It has been reported that a fat-burning substance was detected in the Frenchman's 'A' sample and he now has until Tuesday to decide whether to accept the charge or ask for a second 'B' sample to be analysed.

When asked about the issue after today's match, Klopp said: "I'm really limited what I can say. There's is an official statement and there's nothing else to say.

"It's not the most easy situation that's for sure, but maybe we can say more when we know more maybe next week."

Sakho is technically still available to play, but Liverpool and the player have decided that he is not be available for selection until the investigation is complete.
