Jurgen Klopp would welcome Steven Gerrard back to Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is open to welcoming Steven Gerrard back to Anfield should the Reds legend call time on his stint in Major League Soccer.

Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is "always welcome" to rejoin the club after hinting that his time at Los Angeles Galaxy could be at an end.

The former England international departed Anfield in 2015 after bringing his near-three-decade stint on Merseyside to a close, joining MLS side Galaxy where he has spent the past 15 months.

Gerrard hinted in an Instagram post on Saturday that he will likely be leaving California when the season ends next month, however, penning what appeared to be a goodbye letter to supporters and thanking them for 'making this place feel like home to me'.

Asked if a return to Liverpool could be on the cards for Gerrard, likely in a coaching capacity, Klopp told reporters: "Steven Gerrard is always welcome at Liverpool FC. You cannot imagine how welcome. So, absolutely no problem.

"But everything that we have already or will speak to each other stays in this talk. That is how I know Stevie and that is how I am. But nobody should worry that we have no space for Steven Gerrard. No - everything will be fine, 100 per cent."

Gerrard played 710 games for Liverpool across a 17-year senior career, skippering the Reds to Champions League glory in 2005 while also winning three FA Cups and two League Cups.
