Liverpool hand new signing Roberto Firmino number 11 shirt

New signing Roberto Firmino will wear the number 11 shirt at Liverpool next season.

Liverpool have confirmed that Roberto Firmino will wear the number 11 shirt next season.

The 23-year-old agreed to join the Reds from Hoffenheim last month in a deal worth a reported £28m.

However, he only arrived at the club's Melwood training base for the first time today, having been given extended leave following his exploits with Brazil at this summer's Copa America.

In a series of photographs on the club's official website this afternoon, it was revealed that the attacking midfielder has been handed the 11 jersey, which has previously been worn by the likes of Jamie Redknapp and Robbie Fowler.

Rather than travel to meet his new teammates on their pre-season tour of the Far East, there have been suggestions that Firmino will remain on Merseyside to work on his fitness ahead of the new season.
