Liverpool to assess extent of Daniel Sturridge's hamstring injury

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that the club will monitor Daniel Sturridge's hamstring injury over the next few days.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that the club will discover the extent of Daniel Sturridge's hamstring injury in the coming days.

The striker was substituted in the second half of the Reds' crucial 3-2 victory over Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.

Rodgers, who is four games away from guiding Liverpool to their first league title since 1990, will monitor Sturridge over the next few days after he complained of tightness.

"We'll see how he is over the next couple of days," the Liverpool Echo quotes Rodgers as saying. "He felt a wee bit of tightness in his hamstring, so we'll just see how that is in the next couple of days."

While there are doubts over Sturridge's fitness, Liverpool will definitely be without midfielder Jordan Henderson for the next three games after he received a straight card against City.

The Reds are two points ahead of Chelsea in the Premier League table.
