Spartak Moscow have been charged by UEFA for racist behaviour in their Youth League fixture with Liverpool.
On Wednesday afternoon, reports emerged that Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster had been racially abused by a Spartak player after the youngster needed to be restrained at the full-time whistle.
Boss Steven Gerrard acknowledged that the Merseyside giants intended to report the incident, while Brewster himself also informed the referee of comments made to him.
UEFA has now confirmed that disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Spartak, who went on to suffer a 2-0 defeat to the English side at Prenton Park.
Liverpool heaped further misery on the Russian giants as they prevailed by a 7-0 scoreline in their Champions League encounter at Anfield on Wednesday night.
