Daniel Sturridge unconcerned with Harry Kane form

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge claims that he is unconcerned with the prospect of losing his England place to Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane

England striker Daniel Sturridge has claimed that he is unconcerned about the prospect of losing his place to Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane.

The Spurs forward has hit 26 goals in all competitions this term and is expected to be named in Roy Hodgson's latest squad later this month.

However, Liverpool forward Sturridge, who returned from a five-month injury layoff at the end of January, has said that he is not focusing on the form of anyone but himself.

He told the Daily Mail: "Why am I watching someone else's glories and achievements? It doesn't matter to me who comes around or what players are about. It means nothing to me.

"When you watch other people, you don't get anywhere in life because you are at war with yourself. Well done to Harry Kane and what he has achieved but I am not watching what he is doing. I just believe in me."

Meanwhile, Sturridge has claimed that he bears no grudge with the England camp for his lengthy spell on the sidelines with a thigh problem that was picked up on international duty back in September.
