Daniel Sturridge insists that Liverpool can close down the nine-point gap to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is confident that he and his teammates can close down the gap in the Premier League table to reach a Champions League spot.

The Reds currently sit nine points behind fourth place, which is occupied by Tottenham Hotspur, following their 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

"We are nine points off the top four so it's not a massive gap to try and recoup so hopefully we'll be able to do that," Sturridge told the club's official website. "We believe we can.

"We have still got to play Chelsea and Tottenham at home and the other teams challenging have to play each other so hopefully we can win those home games and stamp our authority."

Liverpool's next league fixture is a home clash against West Bromwich Albion on Monday.
