Suso praises "Spanish" Brendan Rodgers

Liverpool winger Suso praises manager Brendan Rodgers for the "Spanish" style of football that he has introduced to the club.

Liverpool winger Suso has praised manager Brendan Rodgers for his "Spanish" style of coaching.

The Reds have enjoyed a solid start to the Premier League season, with two wins from their opening three games lifting them up to fifth place in the table.

Suso suggests that the team's resurgence in recent times can be credited to Rodgers, who he believes has introduced a "Spanish" way of playing at Anfield.

"I look at him and I see him as similar to a Spanish coach because all the work we do in training is with the ball," the 20-year-old told Liverpool's official website.

"Every time he asks us to do something it's with the ball. He wants us to play with the ball, never play a long ball and for me that's really good because that's my philosophy. When I go away with Spain it's more or less the same.

"It's a Spanish philosophy to play; you always want the ball, don't lose it and give it to the opposition. It's really good for me and the team."

Liverpool continue their Premier League campaign on Saturday when they host Aston Villa.
