Lucas Leiva: 'Liverpool players behind Brendan Rodgers'

Lucas Leiva says that the Liverpool players are behind manager Brendan Rodgers after the recent speculation regarding his future at the club.

Lucas Leiva has said that the Liverpool players are fully behind Brendan Rodgers.

Speculation has surrounded the manager this week with Rodgers describing it as "hysteria".

"We wanted to win for the manager," Lucas told BBC Sport.

"We know what has been said about him and we think we showed we are a group of players behind him and trying to make everything right.

"We know the pressure is on him but we wanted to play the way he wants us to play, and I think we did that."

Liverpool beat Aston Villa 3-2 on Saturday to move up to seventh in the Premier League table.
