Brendan Rodgers hails Malky Mackay

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes that Cardiff City will be losing their best manager in their history if they sack Malky Mackay.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes that Malky Mackay is the best manager Cardiff City have ever had.

Mackay's future at the Welsh outfit has come under speculation following club owner Vincent Tan reportedly writing him in an email to either resign or get sacked.

"It is a sad day," Wales Online quotes him as saying. "Malky is a wonderful professional, he is the best manager in the history of Cardiff City.

"He got them promoted to the Premier League, which was worth £90m to the club, and they are now in the most competitive league in the world.

"They will stay up with him at the helm and he finds himself under immense scrutiny for doing an outstanding job. The dignity he has shown in the circumstances has been remarkable."

Mackay was Rodgers's assistant when he was the manager of Watford.
