Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has allegedly been told by club owner Vincent Tan that he will be sacked if he refuses to resign from his post.
The news follows reports of a bust-up between the pair after Tan criticised the Scot for his signings, results and tactics.
The duo are also said to have clashed after it emerged that there is no money to fund transfers in January following claims from Tan that Cardiff overspent by £15m in the summer.
With Mackay and Tan no longer on speaking terms, chairman Mehmet Dalman has been acting as a peace-maker, according to The Mirror.
Meanwhile, former Cardiff boss Dave Jones has been linked with a return to the club as director of football following reports that Dalman is seeking more expertise at boardroom level.
Mackay has previously insisted that he will not step down from his post.
