Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Burnley

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League showdown with Burnley on Thursday evening.

Liverpool will be desperate to end a four-game winless run in the Premier League when they welcome Burnley to Anfield for Thursday's Premier League encounter.

The Reds' top-of-the-table showdown with Manchester United was billed as the pick of the fixtures over the weekend, but the two title hopefuls played out a drab goalless stalemate to leave Liverpool winless in the top flight since December's 7-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace.

Jurgen Klopp's men have now slipped to fourth in the table amid their winless run, with Leicester City and Manchester City leapfrogging the reigning champions as United sit pretty at the top of the pile.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Thursday's visit of Burnley.

Joel Matip

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Adductor
Possible return date: January 21 (vs. Burnley)

Klopp hinted before the Man United game that Joel Matip could be involved, but the defender was nowhere to be seen as he continues to nurse a groin problem sustained in last month's draw with West Bromwich Albion. However, Matip could potentially come back into contention for this midweek game.

Naby Keita

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Naby Keita suffered a muscular injury prior to the West Brom stalemate on December 27 and was not ready to return to action against Man United. The midfielder is not expected to be fit in time for the visit of Burnley either.

Diogo Jota

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 6 (vs. Manchester City)

Diogo Jota enjoyed a prolific start to life in Liverpool colours before suffering a knee injury against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League. It will likely be at least another three weeks before the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man can return to training.

Kostas Tsimikas

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 6 (vs. Manchester City)

As is the case with Jota, Kostas Tsimikas suffered an injury in the same area against Midtjylland and joins the Portuguese attacker on the sidelines until February.

Joe Gomez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Joe Gomez has undergone successful surgery on the knee injury he picked up while on international duty with England, but it would be a surprise to see the centre-back return to action before the end of the campaign.

Virgil van Dijk

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Virgil van Dijk continues to update fans on his progress from an ACL injury and recently flew out to Dubai to step up his rehabilitation. However, the influential Dutchman is facing a race against time to be fit before the end of the season.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Liverpool have no suspension concerns for this game.
