Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge angered by Karim Benzema's comments

John Aldridge voices his views on Karim Benzema's reported thoughts that Liverpool are not a big enough club to acquire his services.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has hit out at Karim Benzema after the French striker reportedly rejected a move to Anfield because they aren't a big enough club.

Liverpool are still seeking a replacement for Luis Suarez, with Benzema seen as a suitable replacement.

The reported comments have upset Aldridge, who told Sky Sports News: "He's a decent striker but he can't even get his place in Real Madrid, he plays a bit part.

"It's quite shocking to disrespect a club of Liverpool's global stature with them words."

Aldridge defended his former side, citing Liverpool's Champions League success in 2005 and identifying their past history as being one of the best in English football.
