Alessandro del Piero joins Sydney FC

Sydney FC have completed the signing of free agent Alessandro del Piero.

Del Piero had been linked with a move to Australia throughout the summer, but that move was thrown into doubt when Liverpool reportedly considered moving for the Juventus legend.

However, Del Piero has now chosen to stick with his original plan and sign for Sydney on a two-year deal.

The 37-year-old also received interest from Southampton, but opted for a move to Australia instead.

Del Piero spent 19 years at Juventus, making 698 appearances and scoring 286 goals in that time.
