Lille coach Rudi Garcia says that he would like to see Joe Cole return to the club for both "sporting" and "human" reasons.

Lille coach Rudi Garcia has said that he would "love" to see Joe Cole return to the club.

The 30-year-old spent last year on loan with Les Dogues after failing to establish himself at Liverpool since his arrival in 2010.

The midfielder became a fan favourite with the Northern France side and Garcia has praised Cole for his attitude both on and off the pitch.

"Joe is not only a great person, but also a great footballer," Garcia told RMC. "But financially it was not possible to save him.

"This can be prohibitive for the return of Joe to Lille. Sportingly and humanly, I'd love to see him back."

Cole scored four goals in 20 Ligue 1 appearances last season.
