Liverpool will reportedly welcome back keeper Loris Karius next summer after Besiktas refused to sign the German on a permanent basis.
The 26-year-old moved to Istanbul on a two-year loan deal in 2018 following his horror-show performance in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
Liverpool are keen to remove Karius, whose contract expires in 2021, from the club's books by next summer.
However, according to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are likely to be left with the keeper amid Besiktas refusing to shell out the necessary £7.25m to sign him on a permanent basis.
Reports have suggested that Besiktas are willing to extend the loan spell for another year, keeping Karius at Besiktas until 2021, but this solution is said to be unsatisfactory to Liverpool.
Since that night in Kiev, the Champions League holders have broken the world transfer record for a keeper on Alisson Becker, along with adding Adrian to their ranks last summer.
